Dune BE is a cut-down version of Synapse Audio Dune Synthesiser, the only differences with the full version are as follow:
– no FX unit
– only 32bit
– only 128 presets
You can get a better idea of what this synthesiser can do by listening to their audio demo on their website or by watching the following videos:

Note: the videos are not made by us and the sound may not be optimal.

If you want to download this little gem for free just head over to Beat magazine Facebook page, like them and go to their Download section. As they seem to often change the download freebie we suggest that you proceed to download as soon as possible.

LePou Plugins releases LeCab2, Freeware cabinet impulse loader VST

From their blog :

LeCab2 is the evolution of LeCab1. It's a cabinet (guitar or bass) impulse loader. LeCab2 offers : – 6 impulse slots – Latency control (down to 64 samples) – Dropdown menu built with the .wav files contained in the directory where the last impulse is loaded – Next and Prev buttons to navigate through the impulse directory – Solo button for each slots – Channel selection for each slots – Possibility to link the loaded impulse of 2 slots (other controls stay independant) – High Pass and Low Pass filters for each slots – Phase, Delay, Pan and Volume controls for each slots LeCab2 has been specifically design for relatively short impulse response such as guitar and bass cabinet. Too long impulse response are going to be truncated. Impulse troncation could lead to what's call frequency leakage and then produce atrifacts in the low and high part of the frequency spectrum as shown in the figure below where the blue line is the frequency response of a truncated impulse. This figure has been captured with Voxengo SPAN.

As can be seen, unless under extrem case, these artifacts can be eliminated with the low and high pass filters as provided by LeCab2 for each slots.

Xhip Releases: Freeware Effects Bundle

This freeware bundle is based on the never-finished Xhip VST synth , that has gathered so much praises on the KVR forum. (Personally I think it is an ordinary synth though, go figure )

From this thread on KVR

it includes so far: clipper, compressor, gate, limiter, modulated delay, phaser, quantizer, reverb, ringmod, tremelo. i want to get these tested for bugs/issues and any tweaking or extra additions before i get ben to post this in the news. let mek now what you think or if i've left out anything in these effects. for a partial list of what i'm working on see http://presetexchange.com/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=8 it would also be great to get short demo mp3s of the effects in action – if they were about 200 – 500k that would be perfect. i can do this myself, but i don't really spend enough time messing around with audio these days to really test these and produce demos for them.

Preset Contest
During the public beta testing phase, we're running a contest to find the best, most mind-blowing preset sounds. Top 100: We're going to pick our top 100 favorite sounds from all the sounds created during the public beta and the previous closed beta testing. We'll look at your ratings, but we're going to be selfish just this once and pick the ones that excite us personally. We're looking for unusual sounds—the ones that push Curve to its limits—but we're also looking for clever, useful sounds and just about anything that sounds amazing. Each top-100 preset wins its creator a EUR 10/USD 14 discount on a Curve license. Top 1: We'll also pick our absolute favorite preset. Its creator gets Curve for free, and the winning preset will be used as Curve's pre-loaded initial sound. Anyone who has more than ten presets in the top-100 gets Curve for free and VolumeShaper 2 on top. So get started as soon as possible—the contest closes at the end of the beta testing phase.
